Royal Engineer Regiment by David Rowlands.
Royal Engineers Clearing one of the Convoy Routes (Route TRIANGLE) in the mountains of Central Bosnia, for a convoy of Royal Logistics Corps (RLC) vehicles. David Rowlands travelled this muddy route in early 1993, bouncing and rocking in a Land Rover on my way to Gornji Vakuf with members of 8 Squadron RLC. I made sketches at various points, including Camp Redoubt and the lake near Prozor. Two days earlier on 5th April 1993, at Omis Camp, he watched a small ceremonial parade when members of the Royal Corps of Transport re-badged as part of the newly-formed Royal Logistic Corps.

105mm Light Guns coming into action at Malopolje, Mount Igman, August 1995. 19th Regiment Royal Artillery. by David Rowlands.
1995: Three 105mm Light Guns are coming into action on the roadside. Towed by an AFV 432, the far gun has arrived first and is almost ready to fire. The middle gun arrived next, and the nearest gun last. Red pennants mark the position where each gun is to take up its position. Due to the hard road surface, they were simply laid on the ground. The towing vehicle could be either an AFV 432 or a Steyr, seen with the middle gun. They can be parked near the gun, and the driver could well be in his seat, as shown. Not all the men of the detachment are needed in order to bring the gun into action. The 432's engine could be running, and smoke is blowing upward from the exhaust pipe. It takes some time for the engine to switch off, and needs to run down. At the far end of the position is the Command Vehicle (CV), a 432 which arrived at the position first. Arriving last, and coming to park at the far end of the position, is a DROPS vehicle carrying ammunition. As each gun comes into action the muzzle cover is removed. The two boxes which contain the sight and the gunner's quadrant are laid on the ground. The prism is also on the ground, yet to be set up. The director party is out of sight in this view. On the gun, the base of the sighting mechanism is visible, but the sight itself is not yet fitted. The buff-coloured pad is the gun-aimer's forehead protector. Thick, white arctic socks (with a thin red stripe near the top) were issued, and can be seen on one man. One individual (a Bombardier) always wore his sleeves rolled up. Into the hollow end of the handspike the rammer has been inserted. Its conical end can be seen. In the background can be seen the ski-slope, built for the 1984 Olympic Winter Games.

Heavy Mortars of the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps in action at Mount Igman, Bosnia, August 1995. by David Rowlands.
August 1995: Eerste Mortier Compagnie Korps Mariniers, Operatie PEGASUS. Mount Igman, near Sarajevo. The British and Dutch artillery, established on the commanding feature of Mount Igman, were firing down at the Serbs who were besieging Sarajevo. This was known as Operation PEGASUS. The artist was based with the Royal Artillery on Mount Igman, and through the initiative of Lt Colonel Patrick Cammaert RNLMC, this painting was commissioned by the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps. The No.1 commanding the nearest mortar (holding a white notepad) is Korporal Gaspers. Rocky outcrops of limestone are scattered about the ground. The Commander-in-Chief Royal Netherlands Navy, Vice-Admiral L. Kroon, presented the painting to the Commandant of the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps, in the presence of HRH Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, at the opening of the new Museum of the Korps Mariniers in Rotterdam, 8th December 1995.

1st Battalion Cheshire Regiment by David Rowlands.
The recovery of LCpl Edwards Warrior, Gonji Vakuf, Bosnia, 13th January 1993. On 13th January 1993 there was severe fighting in the town of Gornji Vakuf, when a column of armoured vehicles of B Company, 1st Battalion The 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment arrived. Lance Corporal Edwards was the driver of a Warrior, call sign Two One. His driver's hatch was open, and as he crossed the bridge over the river a sniper shot him. His Warrior veered towards the left and came to a halt. Inside the vehicle, the soldiers were unable to contact the driver. An MRRV (Mechanized Repair and Recovery Vehicle) drove forward in front of the Warrior. Under intense small arms fire, Corporal Bancroft emerged from his hatch and clambered across the roof of his vehicle, and down onto the ground to attach a towbar to the Warrior. The Warrior was recovered, with the mortally wounded driver and the soldiers still inside it. Shortly afterwards, when I was accompanying a patrol in two Warriors, I visited this spot. We dismounted and I was able to sketch the buildings and the damaged railings of the bridge. Lance Corporal Edwards was attached to The Cheshires from 1st Battalion The Royal Welch Fusiliers. A memorial plaque was later erected to his memory beside the bridge.
